They pulled out a more than 1000 years old Viking sword from a cairn in Norway

A hunter is found a more than 1000 years old Viking sword in Norway, left in great condition. Einar Ambakk found the brown object when they (he and his friends) followed the trails of the reindeers in Reinheimen, central part of Norway, where they never hunted before. At first he thought he found a rusty iron rod, but when he pulled out, he saw it's a real sword.

They found the sword 1640 meters above the sea level and it's sticked out from the ground for more than 1000 years. Ambakk notified the local archaeologists and experts. "As I know no one found a sword this high before. It's also rare that it's left in so good condition." - Said Lars Holger Hilo, archaeologist. According to the expert the Viking Sword's grip is in two parts, likely it's fixed, but probably it's originate from the years 800, 900.

According to Pilo it's unique that no one noticed the relic lying on the ground for more than 1000 years. People didn't approached the ruin and from the distance it's didn't looked like a sword. Probably only the hunters are walked around this area of the high mountain. "Even the environment is unique. What kind of Viking leave his/her most precious object on the mountain? The owner is probably lost or lost his sword. Maybe left the sword behind and died somewhere else, for example in a snow storm." - Said Pilo.

They examine the sword these days in Lillehammer, but they soon transport it to the Cultural History Museum in Oslo for further examinations.
